Kids' Clay Classes

Due to the coronavirus threat, we are postponing our Spring Kids Clay Classes.
Emails have been sent to people who have enrolled their children as of March 18, 2020.
As of March 18, we are still enrolling for our summer classes.
We are hoping to reschedule the spring classes for the Fall. Dates to be announced soon.

11:00 AM to 12:30 PM: Been There, Done That, But Want to Do It Again

Clay and Woodworking Classes Available for Scouts
Shiloh Pottery offers group clay and woodworking classes for Cub Scouts, Brownies, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and other groups.
Ken Hankins is a former Scout, having attained the rank of Eagle Scout.
Parents are encouraged to come with their scouts and help if necessary.
We also offer beginning woodworking classes for Scouts. Call for information.

Clay Class size is limited to 10 scouts
--Fee: $60 per group plus $12 per child
--Each child makes 2 pieces, one thrown on the potter's wheel and one hand-built
--Allow approximately 2 hours
--All pieces will be glazed and fired and ready for pick up approximately 2 weeks after the class

Woodworking Classes Limited to 8 participants

Ken Hankins of Shiloh Pottery has been teaching kids' clay classes for 30+ years. Ken holds a Masters Degree in Ceramic Art Education from Alfred University.

Shiloh Pottery has a large, well-equipped studio located on a farm in Carroll County. Your child will be doing many exciting clay projects such as: flower pots, log cabin bird houses, creature sculptures, dishes, trivets, masks, piggy banks, slab pots, cups, bowls, wind chimes.

During the Kids' Clay Class, each child will get to "throw" on the potter's wheel at least once each class with assistance. We are now offering a class for teens in the spring. Older children with more experience may choose to attend theWheel Class.

Children receive instruction on types of glazes and glaze their own pottery.

Classes are offered Saturday mornings during the spring and during two weeks in July.
(dates sometimes are subject to change)
Cost is $160 per child for four classes (spring), $190 for five classes (summer).
Price includes instruction, clay, glazing and firing.

Shiloh Pottery also has a complete woodworking shop for students.

Call to arrange special one-time classes for small groups (10 or less). Perfect for Cub Scouts, Girls Scouts, Home Schoolers, 4-H groups, Vacation Bible School, Preschool groups, etc.
